Description:
A side pass is a lateral move with the hips and shoulders moving at the same time.

Options:

  • Facing an obstacle
  • Over an obstacle like a log or pole
  • Between an obstacle (between parallel polls

How is it Judged?

  • Point deduction for crossing behind, or moving legs sideways but next to each other
  • Balanced rider position. Riders can look where they are going but not focus downward
  • Riders in shank bit must use one hand
  • Riders in snaffle or hackamore may use 2 hands
  • If obstacles are used points deducted for hitting the obstacle
